M*A*S*H Mobile Adult Study Hour
SPACE Team and M*A*S*H Assembly Presentation (January 2009) Assembly Text
On July 6, 2008 a new theme was introduced for our Adult Sunday School. During a youth and adult assembly in the gym, we saw where God has taken us over the past five years (20% growth), the “opportunities” this blessing has caused, and looked at what the future may hold.
We do not have good news for those that do not like change! Classes moved before and after the renovation of our Pre-school and Children's wing; some moved in December as we chose not to renew the lease on the Annex. Within a year or so, a fourth move is possible because of the update/renovation of Bldg. C that may occur in 2010, if not in 2009.
M*A*S*H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. MASH units were temporary structures that changed locations as the battle lines dictated. With all the possibilities on the table for us as a church, we think it’s best if we adopt a M*A*S*H–type attitude: Mobile Adult Study Hour. We know that as a church family we can handle a lot if we know what to expect. Expect plenty of change!
The Adminstration Committee sanctioned a team (called the Space Team) to study our space situation and to come up with recommendations for the next three to five years. This team conducted assemblies in January 2009 for the purpose of raising awareness and to spark discussion. Information collected from surveys will help shape recommendations from the Space team to the church family.
God is at work in growth. He is at his potter’s wheel and through these circumstance wants to shape into us the character of Christ. Perhaps some what He is working into us is patience, flexibility, trust, longsuffering, and positive attitudes, among other things. Let’s collectively and personally seek God on how we can let Christ rule our hearts!
